The Process
Today is the end
 today's all that's left
it's the end of this place
 time to move on

 ready for the world
 scared but prepared
 the loud rooms and spaces
 that exist outside

 no more silence
 no more lines
 no more space
 during difficult times

 the people won't get me
 they'll judge me and talk
 but maybe they won't
cause the crazy and pain is all gone

I've still got work to do
 but i'm back in control
 my eyes don't scream pain
 to the people who knew

 to people who can see
 the screams behind my smile
who know it's the fake me
 that seems in denial

now, i knew i was hurt
and i knew i had tears
 that might swell and explode
 when the happy thoughts cleared

but the help that i begged for
 put me on a list
 a hopeless few weeks
 just to get fixed

they're just as crazy as me
 and the stories we share
are the ones that cut deep
 though everyone cares

 and around three o'clock
i turn the steering wheel right
 with a sincere full smile
 that lasts through the night

 before, when dusk set in
 so did the pain
when the sky cried those stars
 my eyes dripped salty rain

 but now in the dark
 when exhaustion arrives
 i want to stay up
 defying my eyes

 the stars in the sky
 don't seem like tears
 now they remind me
 there's a world beyond here
