The Ruin
Was it all really the strangest dream I ever had
Thousands of illusions trapped in a $19 bottle
I could have bought reality with the money I used on lies
I could have died a happy man with the hope I used on lives
We ran through trees that were not there
We were both chasing religion
But you saw it in a book and I saw it in a girl
We fell from different heavens and I lost you in the whirl
If we were to speak today I would tell you that I forgive you
You would tell me that you were never seeking my forgiveness
And I would smile because of the stubborness in you
I would kiss you
We would find ourselves against the wall
It would be necessary but I would not stand tall
You'd slap me and gently touch the ruins where the fire just was
Smoke would rise and your lips would be the ruin
