Standing in the Darkness

The darkness covers the world
As if it were a blanket
It spreads hopes and dreams
And fright
Why is it, little children are scared?
And grown ups are who comfort?
When is the point when you are no longer afraid?
How can the dark be comforting
And
Terrifying?

I really don't know what inspired me to write this poem, I did in studyhall one day. But darkness is another thing that has two meanings...
