In You
I found Religion in your eyes
Because God leans against your retina
Provoking a soulful melody from a viola
And when he tires, he walks through the forest of your iris
How I envy God in this moment….
I found Music on your lips
Because each note that spills from them
Collects to create a symphony of honey-sweet sound
Arpeggios of Tonics, Minor Thirds, and Perfect Fifths
All intertwining to create the chord
That David strummed to please the Lord
And when those lips curl into a smile
Little licks of lyric leak from the corners
God, how I would love to press those lips to mine
So I could hear your music reverberate in my skull
I found Art in your body
Each curve carefully crafted by a patient hand
Each strand of hair a brushstroke on canvas
And the way your chest rises and falls in time with your breath…
 You are a moving sculpture
 An architectural masterpiece
Rembrandt himself would weep at your beauty
 I found Poetry in you
 Every part of you.
Each finger and toe is a syllable
And your limbs, swaying gracefully with your stride,
 Are complex rhyme schemes,
offering themselves to complement each other
Your spine has been forged with syntax
And your posture is the elegant poise
That carries the wisdom of your wordplay to all those that can appreciate it
How I long to have your poetry
So I could find a way to express my love for you
 In the way you deserve.
