Father To Daughter
Girl, I'm gonna tell ya now:
Life for me ain't been no new
Peterbuilt.
My truck has had scratches,
And dents,
And doors fall off,
And places where there was no roof.
I'se had breaks that didn't work.
And trucks that won't crank.
And girl, I'se even had to drive trucks without a steering wheel down I-75.
But all this time, I'se still been a drivin'.
And reachin' pit-stops.
And turnin' corners.
And sometimes drivin' on thin ice, literally.
When there wasn't nothin' to catch me under that ice.
Except the cab, from "Old Yeller."
So girl, don't you turn around,
Don't you pull over on the interstate.
'Cause you find its kinder hard.
Don't you wreck now.
For I'se still goin', girl.
I'se still drivin'.
And life for me ain't been no new peterbuilt.
