A)
He marches down the hall
Proud confident
Not like me
His football uniform still draping over his shoulders
From last night’s game
Girls with navels showing chant cheer around him
Like temple priestesses’ worshiping a god
But he doesn’t notice
He never will
He lives his life
Party, be cool, football, repeat
That’s his life
Ignoring the girl
With glasses
And textbooks fused to her
The girl he used to know
But
He’s a celebrity here

And he likes it

B)
I hate it
I hate this mask
I hate these lies
I look at my old friends
From old schools
Clinging to their textbooks and
I wish I stayed
I wish I could ditch this life
I hate football
I hate these b****es
Dancing around me like temple worshipers
I want to be me
I don’t want to have to fail my tests
I don’t want to have to hide my true love
Computers
I know right
I’m a nerd
A geek
I should be clinging to text books
I should have the glasses
Instead I’m here
In this costume
Pretending
Acting
For all
