I Am From
I am from
Being an over achiever and
Always getting the best grades.
I am from not talking back
And always doing what is told.
I am from graduating 8th grade
And almost getting that desired
Daniel Murphy scholarship.
I am from starting high school
And changing until
I can’t tell who I am anymore.
I am from talking, talking, talking,
And blankly looking at my work
As if waiting for it to be done on its own.
I am from daily trips to the principal’s office
And that time I almost got expelled.
I am from those never ending lectures,
From my parents, my teachers,
And my friends.
I am from turning my ways around,
And struggling to the top.
I am from trying, trying, trying,
And wanting to give up.
I am from the flashbacks of my past
And being terrified to go back.
I am from today working on
Tomorrow,
My dreams,
My future,
And My life.
