Crash
You and me
Like a car out of control
On steep hill, no guardrails
We'd pump the brakes, but the brakes are soft
No stopping now
We draw rapidly nearer to the end of us
Burning rubber, leaking belated "I love you"'s
and "I'm sorry"'s out
the dragging exhaust pipe
Fishtailing, yelling
Rearview's cloudy, can't remember what's behind us
Headlights failing, can't see what comes next
Except at the very bottom
The inevitable orange cones spelling out an end
We'll never avoid
