Happiness has died.
And Sadness has taken residence
Where once he called home.
He has destroyed everything
That Happiness has ever built.
Where once sunny days were numerous,
Now they are only scarce.
Where once friendship conquered all,
Now they are torn apart.
Where once love filled our hearts,
Now they are filled with hate.
Where once work was doing what you love,
Now it’s where the money comes.
Where once happily ever after did exist,
Now it lies in ruin.
Where once our worlds were founded by hope,
Now they are based in despair.
Happiness has died.
And Sadness has taken residence
Where once he called home.
He has destroyed everything
That Happiness has ever built.

When I looked around one day, I just started to think about what the world has come to in the present age. How happiness seems to have disappeared from our culture and been replaced by sadness.

I really like the story and message behind the poem, however for the first couple lines the rhythm seems a little off. It feels like some of them have an extra syllable like in "He has destroyed everything". Also, the use of "residence" in a seperate line seems a little off, as you do not do it anywhere else. I hope this helps, and keep writing!
