Looking up, she sees black umbrellas blowing in the wind
Under an expanse of gray cloudy nothingness
She feels the cold prick of raindrops on her legs
As she grips Mommy’s frozen hand
She doesn’t understand
Trails of tears trickle down pale cheeks
Of people she faintly recognizes
And the melodic staccato of rain on heavy hearts
Is only interrupted by the occasional sniffle
She tries to inquire about what is happening
But those worn, tear-stained faces only stare at the stone
Little does she know
Daddy’s not coming home tonight

This piece describes the way death is perceived in a young child's mind.

Hard Work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

Wow. Amazin poem. It was especially touching, since I read it just days after the Newtown shooting. This is how a child may have gone to a best friends funeral. Please see some of my work.

Isn't it ironic? We ignore the ones who adore us, adore the ones who ignore us, love the ones who hurt us, and hurt the ones that love us.

Vey sad and tragic. I'm very impressed.

the best kind of people are the ones that make you feel uncomfortable, in a good way.

I totally agree, its a good poem, usually children know no such thing as death. It was amazing! Please view mine. Thank You.

Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments which take your breath away.

You are only as strong as your weakest link.

Touching, because it is from the perspective of a child discussing something that children are not normally aware of or exposed to. (did that make any sense?) I loved it :')
