Your tears fall
like pearls to the mahogany floor.
I try to quell them,
to catch and gather the pearls,
but they fall faster to the floor,
too swift for my usually nimble fingers to grasp.
I long only to string them
and make a necklace for you that can
be worn to remind you of your strength.
The thread breaks.
You misunderstand my intentions.
