The Sign Said Vacant

It was old
It was ancient
It had webs
hanging from
the ceiling
of the pulsing
room
it was alive
it was worn
needing love
though love
was all around
it was his heart
in a coma
sleepless state
stuck in his own
unreachable
utopia
so the rain came
then the sun
the clouds heavy
releasing
the winter snow
season after season
and yet
his heart was
old it was
ancient it was
unchanged.
