The Weakness in the Wind
I am of the wishes floating on the top of millions of dandelion seeds.
I am of the lost heartbeat as an
ambulance passes, sirens wailing.
I am the black cat who crosses your
path in a dark alleyway.
I am of the worn ground circling the wooden Merry-go-round.
I am of the wildflower eyes who
count the clouds throughout the day.
I am of the eagle who has a
stolen romance with the sun.
I am of the gum and lovers always
hidden beneath the bleachers.
I am of the giggle who escapes your
lips to see the beautiful world.
I am of the single marigold sunbathed and given the gene of perfection.
I am of the veins who carry courage
and power instead of blood.
I am of the dropped ice cream cone
left to perish in the sunshine.
I am of the wildfire who destroys the old so the renewal may begin.
