I check for monsters under the bed
They are not there, where have they fled?
I hear vicious voices somewhere near
I know they’re close, I know they’re here
The thought of monsters get in the way
Though they’ve made it clear they’re here to stay
I close my heavy hazel eyes
There I see them, the monsters I despise
When I wake, they’re out of sight
Where have they gone, have they left for the night?
I check for monsters under the bed
Until I realize, they live in my head
