Why do you run O little mouse
Your miniature paws will soon give out
Your fate will be sealed
Your flesh will be severed
And yet, you keep on running
Why?

Why do you eat O little mouse
The hunter is rapt in his chase
Your rations so small
Your breaths temporary
And yet, you keep on eating
Why?

Why do you squeak O little mouse
A cry of joy erupts from your soul
Yet in just seconds you will expire
Your song will be chanted no more
And yet, you keep on squeaking
Why?

Why do you live O little mouse
For your life is lived to die
To fight is fruitless
To stand up is futile
And yet, you keep on living
Why?

This is morbidly adorable, and it raises an interesting question about the meaning of life. Why does one live to die, especially in a life so short and seemingly empty? It's a nice poem, and I liked how you put it togeather so that each stanza built a base upon which to rest the last. Good job :)
