Such A Secret To Bear
If this journey does not impale me,
the reward shall not fail me.
You inquire me not to go,
but I must tell you no.
This is a place I must go alone,
I'll be sure to phone.
You wrap me in your arms and beg me not to go,
but as I've done before I let go to say no once more.
There is something I must give you,
something you must have before I depart.
Reaching into my satchel I pull out a piece of parchment,
I hand you the note.
Eyes wide after reading,
you start to doubt.
This is surely too much to bear,
you tell me leaving you is incredibly unfair.
As a tear slides down my cheek,
I give you a kiss and leave for many weeks.
