Vitamins
Vitamins—
 pink chalk coating my teeth
 in powdery rose dust.

 Vitamins—
 slipping down my raw throat,
 about to make their plunge.

 I feel them choking me,
thrusting rosy air from my lips.

They go down without a bite
and lodge their way into my trachea.

 Vitamins—
 stealing away my pleading breaths,
refusing to listen to my cries for life.

 Vitamins—
 sneaky little life-nappers
 pretending to be protectors.

 They are rosy good liars
 coated in sugar sweet facades.

“I’ll keep you healthy,” they say.
 “You can breathe another day.”

 Vitamins—
tricking me as I lay them on my tongue,
about to turn me to a splinter of pink dust.
