Forever Night
I stood there,
Right next to her till the end,
As I held her hand until it was
Over,
The droplets that fell from my eye,
Reached to my cheek,
As I inhaled deeply.
She gave me a slight grin knowing that it was time,
She looked into my eyes with
Belief.
Slowly she held my hand,
And I nodded.
Her eyelids coming to a drop, and her breathing
Stopped,
And so did she.
But I was still there holding her pale hand.
That night staring up at the bright stars, sitting near the fire that grew,
Its warmth was company.
A bright wink from up above and I
Smiled.
A new star had been born, shining brighter than ever.
I felt safe under the stars,
There was hope,
She was still with me.
Up above I held her hand,
And we both drifted slowly into the night,
As I was sitting near the fire.
