You are not sweet nor are you tame
You are fur and you are flame
You are storm and you are flood
You are life and you are blood

My wind-blown, thumping heart that moves
My thundercrushing, blazing hooves
My midnight-maned running god
My snorting, stomping chariot

My steaming, gleaming buckskin foal
My rearing, prancing eyes of coal
Carry me, muscles of stone
You master's work of flesh and bone
No second glance, we shoot ahead
A new sun is about to set.

The author's comments:
I have loved horses since I was a child, trying to capture their movements and their spirit with scribbles and scetches, and found it impossible. Now I've tried to put in words what I failed to achieve with paint. This poem is dedicated to my horse Chaos, who never fails to make me laugh and wonder.
