Seasons
Flowers bloom
The cold dies
The world is reborn
Some say it is Persephone returning
Ending her mother’s grief
And bringing life back into the world
Soon there after
The world has become a green palace once again
Hearing the news the animals return lively and healthy
The birds sing, crickets chirp, and bees buzz with excitement.
The weather warms
The days get shorter
Hunters hunt
Fishers fish
Farmers break their backs in the beating sun
Gradually the crops start to wither
For soon Persephone shall be leaving
Going back to Hell, back to Hades
You can no longer hear the children playing
Or the young men fighting
For war has taken this powerful city of Athens
As the cold is reintroduced
The birds sing a different song
Crickets no longer chirp
And bees have ceased to buzz
Persephone is gone, taking life with her
The leaves change colors
Trees start to bare fruits
Other crops wilt
For the first frost has struck
Death has been welcomed to the world
And night has begun to swallow the day.
Persephone has been gone for three months
The earth is dead
The only thing giving it the illusion of life is the new fallen snow
Bright and glistening, it shines like heaven
Slowly the days grow longer
And Persephone’s mother spirits begin to lift
So the earth warms
The snow melts, causing the lakes to overflow
Just like Demeter’s heart
When her daughter returns to her
To start another year
