Irony
The cries of agony reach my ears
even though through all my years
I’ve never beheld quite so much pain.
 Of men forever slain
 to save the lives
 of us.
 We who are undeserving
 take advantage of those serving,
So that we may live through the night
 and not have to fight,
 for life.
But what life is worth living
when what we do is unforgiving,
and the men lay on the ground
 blood splattered round and round.
 Their lives forever taken
and we are still not waking.
