The good happily prosper while the bad peak and fall

A young boy that started drinking,
mother's love has a demon in the making.
He could not stop his bad habit,
until no one wanted to handle it.
From couch to couch he hopped,
but within a week he was dropped.
Arrogance was his biggest flaw,
respect, he couldn't recall.
Open arms were not enough-
the love he needed had to be rough.
One day after starting a fight,
his true problem came to light.
He could not love himself you see-
drinking was his way to plea.
To die, he said, was all he wished,
his fear was that he wouldn't be missed.
The devils juice has consumed my kin-
a fight with the devil is hard to win.
Dear cousin hear my cries,
all those whispers have been lies.
To win this battle you must repent
from the gift the devil has lent.

The author's comments:
This was inspired by a dear cousin of mine that I hold close to my heart. He had no positive outlet, and this is what got him where he is now.
I hope that the people that read this are touched and understand that we all make mistakes and do bad things. But we have to realize when we have gone to far and be able to pull ourselves out of the trouble, for our own good.

The more control you have over yourself, the less control others have over you.

This is really good! The word choices are amazing and the flow is very, very nice. It's very deep and the ending is amazing! Great job!
