Onion Volcano
When I was six,
My papa brought me to habachi bisuteki.
Onion volcanoes, they told me.
Flipped, cooked.
Sweet, like the way onions should really taste.
Onion volcanoes,
Would you like one?
One or two or three?
I watched them in their fiery glory,
I watched them explode into the sky.
Sweet, sweet volcanoes.
They liked to burn on the stake.
