Alone
Alone
is wonderfully content
sometimes even delicious
occasionally sensational
but some nights
Alone becomes tired
its glamour dims until
the "A" seems to fade out entirely
and you are just lone.
Long moments of solemnity
and whispers of
"heartbreakingly"
"miserably"
"frighteningly"
leach onto the word
and even as they trail off,
the burnt tips of them
stay with it stubbornly
Lone...ly.
Alone
is wonderfully content
until it becomes
Lonely.
