A story never told

We all have stories inside.
Some are trapped within us;
Others are working on their escape;
While the rest are free
I have a story, too
A story that was once trapped
It meant to escape many times
Before it got trapped again.
The bars of the cage
Are too strong.
There is no way
To cut open my heart.
So why not give me
A pencil and paper
So I can put my life down,
So I can put my heart down?
Oh wait,
I don’t know how to write.
