I See and I Wonder
I see and I wonder.
Why do we pay so much thought
To the comings and goings of others?
Why do we need so much to be seen,
To be heard, to be touched?
Why do we wait so long
For people who wouldn’t wait for us?
I see and I wonder.
I see and I wonder.
Why do we put so much effort
Into becoming someone else?
Why do we stare at what everyone else has
While not looking at our own gifts?
Why are we always looking forward or behind
But never looking around?
I see and I wonder.
I see and I wonder.
Why do we cry at night
But smile in the light?
Why do we put up an armor
To shield the soft, glowing light in all of us?
Why are we always looking for “enough”
When it’s inside of us?
I see and I wonder.
