pencil in hand
heart pounding
my drawing began
with a simple stroke
the picture unfolding before my eyes
ghosting my rough start
and smoothing once rigid lines
excitement flooded through me
When I picked up my brand new pen
for the first time
carefully dipping it into the ink
then
touching pen to paper
a blocky first line couldn’t be helped
time flew by while making lines
slow and deliberate
I remember pride swelling through me
after carefully inking the final line
completing my first masterpiece
