What Heals a Damaged Heart
A bandage will not suffice,
Nor a suturing needle and thread,
 A gaping, bleeding wound,
That refuses to leave me dead.
A cast will be to no avail,
 Not even if it’s taped.
It’s tough to mend a heart
 After it’s been raped.
No pressure will cease the bleeding,
No pills will end the pain.
Nothing will heal a damaged heart
 That breaks again and again.
