Men of Mud and Wine
Explicit guilty dreams,
Passed on through drunken birth,
Lucid memories filled with repent,
A dirty truth hidden in hearth.
A family secret bittersweet,
Stained red like blood wine,
Taken with bread and a pinch of salt,
As intoxicating as any lie.
An apocalyptic birthright,
To be bathed in tainted water,
They’re men of mud,
Savages who enjoy the slaughter.
So reap not from the fruits they have sewn,
Do not eat their poisoned pomegranate seeds,
Or be forever trapped like Persephone,
Do not drink their wine,
It is the blood they bleed.
