Miserable Day
They looked to tomorrow,
 but tomorrow never came
 Those who fought,
 left blood on the pavement
 to drip through the cracks
The city still lays in shadow
 no red dawn glow
 for tomorrow never came
 The flag they raised
flies in tatters on the wind
 the people look to it
 as they looked to tomorrow
 even though tomorrow never came
 Gunpowder scent fills the air
near the last stand of our brothers
for they were fighting of tomorrow

 but tomorrow never came
