My Once Was Friend
Remember when we were young
And still friends?
We would sit and laugh and joke
About our time well spent
But now that time has come to pass
Hopefully the memories will last
But nothing is forever
And friendships are built to be severed
I cry a little bit
Because you died more than just a bit
The best part of you left with your innocence
All that’s left is guided by selfishness
Why can’t we stay young?
Instead of treasure what is left
It’s time to say good-bye
To try and move on
I tried to fight for you
But you’re too blind to manage
To save yourself
If you can salvage
What’s left and start to build again
Come and look me up
And I might be willing to reminisce
But you have to fix
Yourself and cleanse your soul
Before going off in search of friends
I can no longer hide and pretend
To stay friends until the end
You’ve made your bed and lied in it
So soon you’ll see it’s not all it’s cracked up to be
All that’s left to say is good-bye for now
Until we meet again
My once was friend.
