If you carve "love"
Into your skin
Does someone above
Start listening?
If you carve "peace"
And watch the blood flow
Do armies retreat
Do you take the blow?
And if you carve "pain"
Being quite clear
Is somebody listening
What you whisper in their ear?
If you carve "nothing"
Cos that's how you feel
As you feel your wrist throbbing
And fall down, then kneel...
You carve the word "pray"
And hope somebody hears you
But they say it's too late
And then they carve it, too.
