No expectations, no disappointments.

I don’t like being away from you…
Not in the least
On the last day that we saw each other
You tied a small but noticeable string
That holds strongly somewhere inside me
You tied it into the smallest of knots
But if you were to pull on this string
I would be able to feel it greatly
And now today, a while after that one day
That string still remains inside of me
And where the other end is, I have not a clue
All I know is that this lengthy piece of string
Is being held in your hands this very moment
And I swear I feel that you are tugging on it

This is a beautiful comparison that people our age can relate to. The way you said the string only had a small knot, meaning the smallest of ways people can impact us. Then you go on to talk about not knowing when the end is, but still feeling the pull. This often holds true of losing something that once had a deep meaning to you. The way you described it so simply and in not many words definitely made me enjoy this poem and what you had to say.
