The Youth of Today
As today's youth, we must grow older.
With the world seemingly upon our shoulders.
We live in a world were speed is the main game,
And there must always be a gain.
How much pressure can one child take?
While some expect a mountain,
Parents expect the world.
These goals push us to become exemplary.
They also push us to mature to fast.
With thoughts of college, jobs, and a family to one day support.
We often forget who we are.
We are just children.
Children with great expectations yes!
But children none the less.
So yes we must plan for the future we will inhabit.
But don't forget to live in the time you have already been given.
One day the present will become the past.
No more than a memory of what once was.
So do not waste it.
Make it worth remembering.
Go out with your friends and create those memories.
Some will tell you to act your age.
When in reality that is all you are doing.
Your clock is already ticking.
One day it will run out.
We will all become nothing more than dirt in the ground.
But our legacy will live on.
The only thing that matters is what stories our legacy will hold.
The only way for us to know,
Is to go out and make those stories our own.
So again have your fun and do act your age.
Go out and be sixteen.
Go make friendships that will last a lifetime.
Our future is built upon the present.
Let us make it worth building upon.
