A Quiet Death
I am sitting quietly
The smoke slindes under the door
The tendrils reaching, reaching...
The lights flicker, they go out.
The fire crackles, the quietens.
It dies down, it burns low,
And still I sit quietly...
BANG!
A gunshot echoes through the house.
The screaming has now begun
The flames light up the blackened sky,
As the screams begin to grow.
And still I sit quietly...
The fires devour the house,
Working through each home,
Burning as they go.
Destruction all around,
House burnt to the ground,
And still, I sit quietly...
I don't move, I don't flinch
Not a single twitch.
I do not blink, simply stare
Though I do not see.
I cannot hear, smell or taste,
For death...sat quietly beside me.
