Here’s to the friend who always smiles,
The mom who can’t stay mad,
The girl who says she’s fine while tears are falling.
Here’s to all those trying to make everyone’s day while theirs are caving in.

Here’s to the little boys who’ll never grow up,
The waitress absentmindedly singing to herself,
The artist sketching scenes in his mind.
Here’s to the dreamers.

Here’s to the neighbor’s flying a flag for a friend who’s been lost,
The man with scars of a battle long gone but not forgotten,
The family table with one empty chair.
Here’s to the ones who gave up everything.

Here’s to the ones a little left of center,
The one’s who’ll never say die,
The one’s with stories that went unwritten,
These everyday strangers are heroes in my eyes.

I love the message you portray here. You recognize the people who don't get recognition but should. I commend you for that.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away."

The message of this poem is so clear and powerful. I love all of your examples and simplicity of it. Excellent work!

This is super super good. :) I love how you used specific people (even if they were made up) in your lines as a way to make things especially poignant. Great work!

Wow. That was beautiful! You poured a lot of emotion into this, and I can tell. That's hard to do! Great job, and keep writing!
