For You

I lay down my hands,
I gently apply pressure to my finger,
Which let's out a tune,
I drop down my fingers,
A melody plays,
I play the piano,
I play for you

I watch as the delicate hammer rises up for a split second
Just so it can hit the metal string that lay above it,
I watch as the string vibrates,
It shakes vigorously,
Then precisely soon after,
A sound so smooth,
Yet so sharp is let out,
I play the piano,
I play for you

I profess I get frustrated,
I doubt myself,
I stop for a while,
I don't look at the piano,
That reminder of you,
I don't touch that cover,
That reveals a series of keys,
That when played correctly,
Lets out a beautiful melody,
When I am reminded of this,
I convince myself to continue,
For my determination must withstand my doubts,
So I continue to play the piano,
Because I know that I am playing for you.

So I open the wooden cover,
That unlocks the keys,
That when played correctly,
Let out a beautiful melody,
And I press down on the pedal,
That lies beneath where the piano stands,
And I hold down my foot,
I play,
I play the piano,
I play for you,
I play the piano for you.
