The Numb
I want your lips to move
This silence is violent as it tears tiny stiches from my skin.
Your eyes are looking at something that isn’t there, but
My reality doesn’t draw your harmony and acknowledgement.
I want to shake you awake. Wake up.
Do you recognize me?
My face is just a tad bit older
Or maybe it’s younger from the childish fears that overwhelm me.
There is a rope between the two of us that
Remains held together by only temporary threads that I weave.
I looked for a photo that may make the fog clear,
But you look at them all the same.
Numb. You’re numb like someone took your life and held it beneath the ice.
Kicking, screaming for air, but for every claw for freedom you give,
Another foot you fall.
Wake up.
See me as who I really am.
Warm yourself in my arms as the fog is brushed away by vespertine breezes.
