You truly can't judge a book by its cover.

Mommy, I remember
The days when I was little
The days when you'd protect me
And cuddle me a little
The days when I'd be at school
The days when you'd be at work
And nights when you would kiss me goodnight

Mommy, I remember
The days I made you mad
The days when you would yell at me
And make me really sad
The days would you'd be furious
The days when you would spank
And I'd run too my room and cuz I didn't understand

Mommy, I remember
The days you sacrificed for me
The days you took off work
And came to help support me
The days when you'd be late
The days when you'd just give up
But even then you never stopped showing your love

I didn't understand back then,
But now I can't stop crying
I'm sitting here writing this,
It's hard to keep on typing
I'm choking on my own throat,
My vision won't clear up,
But the one thing that is clear to me
Is I recognize your love

Mommy, I remember
The days I went to work
The days you took me to the car
And buckled me up
The days you let me in the shop
The days you let me help
So much good experience, looking back at it now

Mommy, I remember
The days I screamed at you
The days I'd throw a fit
And maybe throw a toy at you
The days when I would cry
The days when you could tell
That no matter what you said, I'd just keep giving you hell

Mommy, I remember
The day you said goodbye
The day you walked away from me
To carry on your life
The day we knew was coming soon
The day that will return
And even though I can't see you, my love for you still burns.

Inspired by "When I'm Gone" by Eminem. I don't know why, but whenever I think about it, I cry so hard... I can barely see my screen as I type right now.
