Cozy, heat-trapping, cloth constructed shapes
Hung upon shoulders, draped around napes
Two long appendages with opening holes
For peeking fingers of shy, quiet souls
A color, two colors, dye etched in its thread
Plastic teeth, some pockets, a cap for the head
Old beach stuck deep in crevices there
A stray penny, peppermint, an occasional foreign hair
Friend to scarf, enemy to wind
Neighbor of badges and buttons, tightly pinned
Bunched deeply in wardrobes or hooked on a plaster wall
Patiently awaiting humans for winter and fall
