As I ran out the door, already late
I realized something dreadful
I’ve skipped the most important meal of the day
well it’s too late now
or else I miss the bus

but that got me thinking
I started to wonder
What does an Angel eat for breakfast?

Maybe they snack on clouds
munching as they fly by
or what if they eat age old sacrifices
from times long ago

Could they eat prayers?
as we send them high above
chew the words up
drink the emotions on the side

if their warriors, strong and elite
maybe they consume a captured demon
who otherwise will rot

What if they love the taste of human food?
Drive through and get a hamburger
could for them that be good

maybe they don’t eat at all,
miss a meal just like me

As the bus pulls up and I climb the steps
I can’t help but think
what DO angels eat for breakfast?
