Your Memory
It keeps coming back
Your memory
You drew me a picture in black and white
I kept it all these years
I look at it and I look at the trash
I cry a little bit, but I still throw it out
Your memory
…
It’s back again
Your memory
A picture of you and me
You loved me then
It hurts
I take the picture
Walk to the trash
Take one last look
Our innocent faces
I cry a little bit
Crumple the picture
Throw it out
Your memory
…
It’s back
Your memory
I can’t do this anymore
I grab a disc and my computer
It takes two days too long
I take the letter, picture, and video
Put them in an envelope
Walk down the driveway
Replay the past
I decide my future
I hesitate
This time I don’t cry a little bit
I put it in the mailbox
Close the mailbox
Turn towards the house
Almost turn back
I keep going forward, though
I say good-bye to your memory
