Once great elder to childhood dreams.
Now falling through frozen air,
From high golden gate.
Taut, tiring temper
Draining frugal strength.
A stubborn mule refusing to drink,
Instead, filling gluttonous belly.
The great, roaring river
Depleted, decayed.
Now, nothing more than
Dusty, desert dune.
