A Modern Cinderella
I
Am Cinderella
Slave
To chores
And schoolwork
I have always
Done chores
And schoolwork
But back then
I was always
Talking and reading too
Nowadays
As a highschooler
I am shushed
Told to clean
Before doing important homework
Told to not do homework
Until they home
After all the little ones
Had already gone to sleep
Tis’ like
They don’t want me to go to the ball
Even though
They are always nagging me about it
How will I ever
Make them proud
Of my schoolwork
Of me
When I seem to simply be
Another mouth to feed
A live in babysitter
I
Am a modern day
Cinderella
Still waiting
For her fairy godmother
For her ball
For her prince
For her happily ever after
