A heartbeat.
So strong,
Yet so feeble.
It flutters
Like the wings of a hummingbird,
Or it pounds
Like the beat of a drum.
You toe the line,
Searching for something,
Someone,
That isn’t there.
Alice has disappeared
Down the rabbit hole,
Harry has hopped on his broom,
And Peter has flown away.
It’s time.
It’s time for you to be your own
Hero.
So climb out of that hole,
Get off that broom,
And come on back home.
