Dreams
Why must you do this to me?
Why do you haunt me in my sleep
 And occupy my dreams?
Oh I can see you now,
 All the scars are gone
 From your face.
You are beautiful in the light
And all the blood has been wiped away...

Oh why must you do this to me?
Why do you stand there, so real,
 And look right at me?
Yes, the trees are all aligned
 Just as the night before.
 You’re so captivating
 With your big brown eyes
 That get me every time.
 We sit under the stars
 Waiting for our future,
 Your hand in mine.
 You whispered in my ear
And sent a tickle down my spine...

But why do you do this to me?
Why do you invade my memories
And tell of what I see?
You’re so gorgeous when you speak,
Yes, I can hear your laugh now.
 But the dark shadow moved
And crept into our picture, so loud. . .

 I should’ve known things
 wouldn’t last forever,
 I should’ve known all things
 Come to an end.
But tell me why, my love,
Tell me why it had to end
 The way it did.
