"No" - Rosa Parks

She is a loathsome gargoyle,
Who burns in hell,
But secretly yearns for heaven.
She reaches her hand towards the divine,
Only to be rejected and scorched
By a ray of light,
Garish and blinding.
She toils away in the depths of a merciless nightmare,
As punishment for crimes,
Of a past life.

O Calliope,
Guide me on this journey,
As I tell this tragic tale.
A repulsive carcass,
Who longs for beauty.

The devil’s daughter,
She reigns where one suffers,
The vengeance of eternal fire.

Many moons ago,
She was a coward and a fool,
Who made a deal with the devil.
Desperate for tasteless attractiveness,
She sold her soul to Satan.
The covenant was made,
And she became an attractive,
Dazzling woman.
And the dark spirits smirked,
For even they were wise enough to know,
What a thoughtless mistake she had made.

Struck by the hand of god,
Denied by the unforgiving mortals,
She had no choice,
But to flee to the place where,
Torture, pain and agony,
Are the monarchs.
Where torment and anguish,
Are streaks in a sunset,
That never fades.

The devil welcomed her with open arms.
He smiled,
A grin that made her skin crawl.
She was now so exquisite,
That even the devil,
Could not bear to see her unhappy.
He let her keep her soul.
Not knowing,
It would cause her more pain and suffering.

On that forsaken day,
He crowned her,
With a tiara of,
Bleeding diamonds,
And dirtied crystals.
Hell had gained a princess,
And the mortals,
Had lost a fool.

Even though the devil spoiled her,
She was still unhappy.
The citizens of her realm,
Cherished her.
But she wanted none of it.

Having a soul,
While residing in hell,
Was a curse,
Not a blessing.
Only she found the cries,
And groans,
Distressing.

Days passed.
Months, years, and decades flew by.
Every night,
She snuck to the spot in hell,
Closest to the heavens.
She called out names,
Of angels,
Of gods,
To save her,
To take her away.
But they never came.

In the morning,
The demons would come,
And get her.
They nursed her,
Back to sleep.
Soothed her,
Into slumber.
