Alone
Eventually they’ll go away.
Then you’ll be alone.
You push and push them all away
‘Til you’re just on your own.
Then you sit and think alone
In the solitude you hate.
The solitude you made yourself
By pretending to be great.
You think about who you pushed away
And who you told you were alright.
They thought for a second then went away.
Didn’t put up much of a fight.
Now you sit alone at night.
A razor by your side
You think about your “caring” friends
Wishing they had tried.
A cut over there
And one right here.
And one more for good measure.
Then you shed a single tear
Hoping they scar forever.
Your friends come back and you welcome them
With a covered arm.
They look at you smiling there.
They think they’ve done no harm.
You keep the secret from your friends.
Hidden by a sleeve.
The scars fade and you try again
Waiting for your friends to leave.
