cold drops stain a face
as the water dances
a lone twig
fights the current
a reflection
small hands against the surface
my hands
and my laughter
see the sand?
draw a picture
a princess or maybe
just a girl
and her reflection
large hands against the surface
is it-
my hands
and my laughter
listen.
hear the wind?
and the future
not the way I planned
or hoped
or dreamed.
just the way
it is
when cold drops stain a face
as the water dances
and a lone twig
fights the current
