Scattered to the Wind
I look at the fine dust in my hands,
As the wind blows at my back,
The sand flows through my hand,
And is absorbed into the storm,
So that they may forever be blown about,
This manmade desert of ruin;
Tears fill my eyes,
Erasing the dirt that clouded my vision,
And I fall to the trembling earth,
Watching as the ground breaks open;
A crack opens beneath me,
Swallowing my body whole,
And I slowly fall into the depths of oblivion,
Greeting the darkness as my friend.
